The gig will feature a wide cross-section of musicians from the Way Out West collective, including a full saxophone section, piano, bass and drums, and 3 singers in contrasting styles.
The set will include the first performance of a new piece by Eddie Harvey dedicated to the memory of the late John Dankworth.
LINE UP
Eddie Harvey - pianist and composer- long time musical associate of John Dankworth and Humphrey Lyttelton and recipient of Parliamentary Jazz Award for services to jazz education.
Kate Williams - pianist and composer - was born in London into a musical family (her father is the guitarist John Williams, her mother a classical pianist). A recipient of the John Dankworth Award For Talent Deserving Wider Recognition, she has gained a distinctive reputation as both a writer and performer.
Tim Whitehead (saxophone) - Tate gallery musician in residence
Chris Biscoe - saxes and alto clarinet, arranger - long time associate of Mike Westbrook and George Russell and toured with Hermeto Pascoal, Andy Sheppard and New York Composers Orchestra.
Pete Hurt - saxes and composer - many tours and recordings with George Russell and Carla Bley and has written extensively for the BBC Big Band and his own groups.
Tony Woods - saxes and composer - creatively fuses jazz and folk influences.
Jimmy Hastings tenor sax - top session player and Humphrey Lyttelton sideman.
Katriona Taylor - voice - well known for her appearances at the Pizza Express and Bulls Head.
Nette Robinson - voice and arranger - specializes in cool jazz interpretations of music associated with Chet Baker and Bill Evans.
Emily Saunders - voice and compositions - Latin, bop and chill-out compositions.
